What is Echo?

Echo daily practice task list on a phone

Practice English.
Every single day.

The best way to improve your English is to use it every day. Learn one new word every day. Learn what it means, how to say it, and where to use it. Read it. Listen to it. Speak it. Five small tasks every day help you improve your English little by little. Miss a day? That’s okay. Come back anytime and continue where you left off.

Echo community rooms and live reading activity

Practice with
other learners

Don’t wait for a class or a partner. Open Echo, join a room, and start practising English. Every room has a different topic, so you’ll always know what to talk about. Read a book together, join a debate, or practise everyday conversations. Join quietly, see who’s inside, and speak when you’re ready. Leave anytime.

There are also women-only rooms, open every day from 7 AM to 10 PM.

A live Echo class with Janhavi

Learn English with
live teachers

Join live English classes and learn directly from a teacher. Listen to the lesson, ask your questions, and practise what you learn during the class. You can learn from teachers in real time instead of only watching recorded videos. Each class gives you a chance to learn, ask, and practise your English with guidance from a teacher.

Why Teacher’s Day.

Janhavi’s father, Brij Mohan, has two master’s degrees and an MPhil. Work was never easy to come by. In interview after interview, his English was not good enough and his Haryanvi accent was. So he made sure his daughter would never have that problem. From the time she was one, he spoke to her only in English. Every Sunday he took her to Red Fort and made her talk to foreign tourists for fifteen minutes. No teacher, no marks, nobody who would remember her. By nine she spoke in nine accents and was reading the news on national television. By thirteen she had finished school. By eighteen she had a master’s in English and 8 bands in IELTS.

Her father is a government school teacher.

Frequently asked question

My English is very weak. Can I still join?

Yes. Echo asks how well you speak on the first screen and puts you with people at the same level. Nobody in your room is going to be ahead of you.

I have started before and stopped after a week.

Most people do. That is why there are five tasks and not fifty, and why missing a day steps your streak back instead of ending it. Nothing here is built to be finished. It is built to be repeated.

Will anyone see my face?

No. Learners are never on video in Echo. Voice only, and you enter every room muted.

Kya isme Hindi chalegi?

The app is in English. The people are not. You can find a room where it is fine to start in Hindi and switch when you are ready.

What does it cost?

Joining this list costs nothing. Echo is a monthly subscription in rupees, and the price will be on the app store on 5 September.
